We were invited to Romania by the proprietor of Dagon Winery, Mihnea Vasilache. The winery is young and currently has 14 hectares of planted vineyards within the Dealu Mare DOC.
The Dagon Clan wines are quite different to Mark Haisma’s French wines. Although we are not talking massive commercial quantities, there is a really wide appeal to them, and their pricing is very competitive with less well crafted wines from Western Europe.
A story of an experimental winery…
Like it or not, wine is essentially and ultimately a business. Wine is made to go on an epic journey from the winery to the barrel, to the bottle, to the shelf and, perhaps most importantly, to the wine consumer’s glass.
